January 30th UPDATE: ENTRY Feb 2: Western Smoke has been entered into a MSW 7 furlong race on the dirt at Santa Anita scheduled for Sunday February 2nd. He is in post 5 in a field of 6 with Victor Espinoza in the irons. While the field is not large it is a little bit Salty. Click here for entries form Equibase.
January 20th UPDATE: RESULT 7TH: Western Smoke had his initial race at Santa Anita at 6 1/2 furlongs in a strong field of 7 contenders including some who are on the Kentucky Derby watch list. He broke well and was forwardly placed throughout the initial part of the race but eventually fell victim to fast opening fractions which proved to be too much for him at this early stage of his campaign. We also acknowledge that he is a route horse so the race gave him some valuable experience. Craig said the following day Smoke came out of his race okay. Click here for the Chart from Equibase.
